AMELUK un film di Mimmo Mancini

È Venerdì Santo. A Mariotto, un minuscolo paese della Puglia, tutto è pronto per la Via Crucis, ma l’interprete di Gesù, il biondo parrucchiere Michele, si siede sulla corona di spine. È l’inizio del calvario: il tecnico delle luci, Jusef, mandato inconsapevolmente allo sbaraglio dall’amico prete, sostituisce Cristo; ma è un musulmano. La notizia fa il giro del mondo e il mondo, insieme a Mariotto, si spacca in due. Jusuf, soprannominato Ameluk, verrà pure – suo malgrado – candidato a sindaco nelle elezioni locali. Sotto un fuoco incrociato, tra momenti drammatici e situazioni esilaranti, toccherà ad Ameluk riportare la pace.

Good Friday: in Mariotto, a small town in the Puglia region, everything is ready for the re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross, until Michael, the blond hairstylist scheduled to play Jesus, sits on the crown of thorns. It is the beginning of a turbulent journey. In the chaos that ensues, Ameluk is volunteered by the local priest to step in and play the part of Christ. The conflict? He is Muslim. The news spreads virally around the world, and public opinion – just like Mariotto – splits into two sides. In a mixture of dramatic moments and comedic situations, it will become Ameluk’s job to glue the sides back together.
